The City of Davenport, Iowa, in conjunction with Non-Profit Chiropractic Organization (NPCO)
has officially proclaimed September 18th as Chiropractic Awareness Day.
City of Davenport, Iowa Official Proclamation:
Whereas
WhereasNon-Profit Chiropractic Organization (NPCO) is dedicated to providing Chiropractic healthcare and education to people living within the harsh realities of poverty around the world; and
WhereasDavenport, Iowa is the City where the revolutionary health profession of Chiropractic began and developed; and
WhereasDavenport, Iowa is world renowned as the location of the first Chiropractic school, Palmer College of Chiropractic, which is the Fountainhead of Chiropractic; and
WhereasChiropractic correction contributes to a healthy community, locally and throughout the world; and
NPCO will plan community activities geared towards families, individuals, and students at various locations throughout the City, therefore stimulating the local economy and health education.
Now, Therefore, We, Bill Gluba, Mayor, and the City Council of the City of Davenport, Iowa, in recognition of the vision and actions of one D.D. Palmer who gave the first Chiropractic Correction to a man by the name of Harvey Lillard and restored his hearing loss, invite the citizens of Davenport to celebrate the birth of this revolutionary healthcare profession that is now utilized by millions of people around the world and do hereby proclaim September 18
